Do you think you're capable of surviving for 3 months with only 33 pieces in your wardrobe? And yes, I mean "pieces" in general because it includes shoes, bags, scarfs AND (in extreme cases) accesories. At first sight it doesn't look like so little, does it? that's what I tought, until I started a list of every single thins in my closet... I invite you to count your clothes, shoes, scarfs, hats and bags for this season, if your number is less than 40 you win and imaginary chocolate cupcake made by me :)

Well, before I start to rumble let me explain how it all works because for what I've seen this minimalist trend has been described in detail in english (http://theproject333.com/) and one or two other lenguages, but not a lot  in spanish!. The Project 333, created by Courtney Carver, it's a minimalist fashion challenge where you make your own capsule wardrobe with only 33 items or less, for the next 3 months (But hey, pijamas, underwear, socks, work out clothes and jewelry with sentimental value (ex: wedding ring) DON'T count within the 33 items). The main idea is to demonstrate we don't need much to be happy, and a few pieces of clothing can be combined and go far! I know we all know it inside our brains, have huge closets is a privilege etc etc, but many times we are not really aware that buying that skirt o those shoes is NOT a basic need, we WON'T die for not buying them, in fact maybe next year we won't even like them anymore. At least to me, the most interesting thing has been watching how others approach this challenge, and the way many apply it to other aspects of their life, my favorites are Ligh by Coco and My Green Closet who did a minimal make up collection! (links down below).

¿Me sigue quedando bien?

To star your cleaning process yo have to separate your stuff in 3 piles: thing you love, things to recicle/sell, and things to throw away. ¿How to choose? Just ask yourself: Does this thing make me really happy? Do I feel confident wearing it? Does it still fit me? Have I used it more than once this year? If the answer is no to any of this questions: get rid of it! It's not worth it to keep it in your life if it doesn't contributes in any positive way or you don't wear it anymore, it's better to sell it and gain some moneyyy, or donate it to someone in need. If you're not sure about some item, you can make a fourth pile, that you will put inside a box, and see if after the 3 months you didn't miss anything inside of it just donate/sell it, preferably without opening it so you won't be tempted.

Some beginner tips, I recommend you start by separating your clothes for the season in piles, once you have that done try making a color palette, to me it was much easier to pick somethin in the morning when everything match! Also remember to be flexible, if the stack of things you love is more than just 33 pieces (which is very likely), just pick another number you're more confortable with, let's say 55 or 60, and start from there so the whole process won't be so overwhelming , and maybe next season you can try to reduce it a little more!

Remember that you're doing this challenge by choice and it shloudn't make you suffer, that would go against the entire philosophy of living sorrounded by the things you love DUH. Finally, a great tip is to hang all your clothes in the same direction, say the tip of the hook facing you, then after you've used that item you must hang it the opposite direction, so by the end of the month you'll know what you have actually used and what you haven't!

That would be all for today, I'm planning on doing my version of Project 333 again this summer (with 50 items), If you'd like to see my capsule wardrob write a comment! Also, I would love if you comment what you think of this challenge, would you try it or is it too crazy for you?
